Sprint Switching to GSM?
I just got this in the mail:
Apparently due to Verizon opening their network to all devices regardless of branding alot of people are leaving Sprint and taking their business (and handsets) to Verizon. In order to combat this Spritn is switching to a GSM network so they can lock devices like AT&T or T-Mobile. I'm told I'll be eligible for an early upgrade to get a GSM phone.

if you have an AT&T phone, and you put a T-Mobile SIM card in it, it won't work, because the phone is locked to AT&Ts network
for CDMA providers such as Verizon and Sprint the "locking" is done by the provider, not the device, until recently Verizon simply would refuse to activate any phone they hadn't sold you themselves, now that has changed
